Inaugural AWLA Book Club. We’re trying something a little different this month! AWLA's August meeting will take the form of a book-club discussion featuring The Last Days of Night by Graham Moore. This historical legal thriller centers on novice attorney Paul Cravath and his role in the patent battle between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse. You might recognize Moore’s name; he wrote the screenplay for The Imitation Game, so it’s no surprise that The Last Days of Night has been described as "John Grisham meets Edith Wharton." At its heart, though, the novel is a provocative meditation on what it means to be a lawyer and represent a client, and it’s bound to stimulate a lively discussion in a group of lawyers. Oh, and Eddie Redmayne is set to star in the film adaptation.
You can order the hardback, paperback, or e-book at various bricks-and-mortar or online retailers, including Antigone Books, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble. The following links will take you directly to the availability of the book.
