About this event

This November, there will be up to a record 14 propositions on the ballot - 11 legislative referenda and three citizen initiatives.  They range from restoring abortion rights, limiting the right of citizens to vote to not retain merit-selected judges to making it a crime to be in Arizona without proper documentation. You may have heard a lot about some of them in the news but no objective discussion of all of them.  For example, one legislative proposal would allow an employer to pay their regularly tipped employees as much as 25% per hour less than the minimum wage, if the employer can establish that the employee is paid at least the minimum wage plus $2.00 per hour for all hours worked. Another would require any administrative rule that would increase regulatory costs in Arizona by more than $500,000 within five years after implementation to require legislative approval before implementation.

Join us to hear Tom Collins present an objective, non-partisan discussion of all the propositions. Being informed and prepared will help us set the state's agenda on these diverse issues.

Thomas Collins is Executive Director of the Arizona Clean Elections Commission, a nonpartisan commission charged with administering and enforcing voter education and campaign finance transparency laws for the State of Arizona. Collins is an attorney whose legal work focuses on administrative and constitutional law. He is a member of the Arizona Supreme Court Committee on Examinations and the State Bar's Administrative Law Advisory Commission. He was a 2019 Arizona Capitol Times Leader of Year honoree for Law.
