BIG FRIENDSHIP: HOW WE KEEP EACH OTHER CLOSE
BY AMINATOU SOW AND ANN FRIEDMAN
Register by Tuesday, March 9, 2021
The novel was selected by the committee for the book club to provide some tools for an often-neglected relationship: friendship. We hope the knowledge and tools in the book will serve us during and after the pandemic.
In the book, Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman discuss the joys and difficulties of friendship. They tell the story of their messy but life-affirming "Big Friendship" in an honest and funny book that chronicles their first decade in one another’s lives. The book is an inspiring and entertaining testament to the power of society’s most under-appreciated relationship, Big Friendship will invite you to think about how your own bonds are formed, challenged, and preserved. It is a call to value your friendships in all of their complexity. Actively choose them. And, sometimes, fight for them.
Some independent, locally-owned book stores where readers can purchase the book are Changing Hands, Grassrootz, and by special order through our frequent partner, The Poisoned Pen. You can also order the audio book online through The Poisoned Pen. Changing Hands has the book in store and online. Grassrootz sells the book through bookshop.org. The book is also available on Amazon.
Even if you have not read the book, we hope you'll still join us for this beneficial discussion on valuing, making, and keeping female friendships.
