You are cordially invited to join the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association for its Annual Holiday Luncheon and Presentation of the 2022 Alice Truman Award to Denice Shepherd.
Denice R. Shepherd has been practicing and litigating in the areas of personal injury, general civil litigation, probate, guardianship/conservatorship and elder law since 1984. She is also a licensed fiduciary.
Denice has been a member of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association for most of her legal career and has been both President of the State Board and of the Southern Arizona Steering Committee, as well as volunteering her time in many other roles.
Denice has also served as a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and has served on NAELA’s state governing board. Denice is also on the board of the Arizona Fiduciaries Association (AFA). Denice was named AFA’s member of the year for 2011 and 2012 and won the National Guardianship Association’s Affiliate Award in 2010.
In addition to AWLA, Denice has volunteered countless hours for the betterment of the legal community. In 2016, she joined the Board of Directors for Step-Up to Justice, a pro-bono organization providing legal services to persons whose income is less than 125% of the Federal Poverty Levels. She also serves as their Treasurer. Denice has served on the executive board for the Mental Health and Elder Law section of the State Bar of Arizona and has been a speaker for that section on numerous occasions. Denice also serves as a Judge Pro Tempore in Pima County Superior Court and on the panel of court-appointed attorneys in Pima County for guardianship/conservatorship actions. Denice’s commitment to pro bono service has been recognized by many organizations as she has been named the volunteer of the month or year by The Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education, Southern Arizona Legal Aid, and by the Arizona Supreme Court.
Outside of the legal field, Denice has also been on the Reid Park Zoological Society Board of Directors since 2005 including serving as a President of the Board.
